Baton Rouge AIDS Society "Celebrates
26
Years of
Service to the
Community" Founded - October 5, 1998
Baton Rouge is currently #1 in
the country with the highest rate of AIDS cases!
Louisiana is currently #1 in states with the highest
rate of AIDS cases in our country!
In the U.S. each 9 minutes and a half, someone gets
infected with HIV.
MISSION Baton Rouge AIDS Society (BRASS) serves as a testing and training provider to the state of Louisiana, with special
emphasis on the Greater Baton Rouge area, offering avenues which foster ethical, personal, social-emotional and intellectual
development. We believe these qualities are essential to making appropriate choices that will ultimately decrease the spread
of HIV/AIDS and other STDs, as well as increase civic responsibility.
HISTORY Baton Rouge AIDS Society (BRASS) was founded on October 5, 1998. Like many agencies of its
inception, its grass roots began inside one of the bedrooms of a two bedroom apartment. Since then, BRASS has continued to
grow and serve the Baton Rouge and surrounding areas. Through the years, we have been able to reach thousands of individuals
through our outreach efforts and educational sessions. In 1999 we were recognized by the IRS as 501(c)3
nonprofit status. In addition, on June 9, 1999 we formally established a Board of Directors. Our adopted slogan is “Together We Can Make A Difference!”
Baton Rouge AIDS Society provides
services to the state of Louisiana with special emphasis on the following cities: Baton Rouge, Port Allen, Clinton, Jackson,
Gonzales, Plaquemine, New Roads, St. Francisville, Donaldsonville, White Castle, Prairieville, St. Gabriel, Geismar, Darrow,
Carville and Sunshine.

What Are AIDS Service Organizations?
All around the world, community-based AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs) serve as a primary source of help to people
who are infected and affected by this deadly virus. Baton Rouge AIDS Society is one of the many organizations providing thousands
of hours of care and prevention to the community.
An ASO may be the place
that a person is first diagnosed with HIV. It can also serve as the link or source to provide every type of service a person
with HIV may need for the rest of his/her life. From the small three-person agencies to the larger multi-million dollar budgeted
agencies, ASOs have been helping persons living with HIV maintain a sense of dignity in their lives by providing assistance
in dealing with the HIV/AIDS pandemic on a personal and daily level.
Baton Rouge AIDS Society
provides a blend of HIV/AIDS education, referrals, counseling services, technical assistance, community education and volunteer
training. If you are interested in volunteering your time or making a contribution toward the fight against HIV/AIDS, please
visit our Volunteer or Donation page of our website. Disclaimer BatonRougeAIDSSociety.org is designed for educational
